Two popular sports drinks sold across Australia are being recalled over fears they may have been contaminated with a microbial fungus.
Brand Solutions Australia is recalling Performance Inspired’s 500mL Protein Water Ready 2 Go blueberry lemonade flavour and Energy Water Go Time in fruit punch pow.
The nutrition company, co-founded by actor Mark Wahlberg, sells vitamins, supplements, protein powders and energy drinks focused on boosting performance.

The protein and energy waters were sold at Chemist Warehouse stores nationwide and are being recalled due to microbial contamination with the fungus aureobasidium melanogenum.
“Food products contaminated with aureobasidium melanogenum may cause illness if consumed,” Food Standards Australia and New Zealand warned.
“Consumers should not ingest this product.”
Affected products include the blue lemonade flavour with best before dates up to and including December 28, 2023 and batch numbers 22300-1, 22300-2, 22300-3, 22301-1 and 22256-1.
Fruit punch pow batches 22299-1, 22298-1 and 22255-1 with best before dates up to and including December 26, 2023 are also included.
Consumers concerned about their health are advised to seek medical advice.
Products can be returned to the place of purchase for a full cash refund.
