The Pitti Filati 94 trade show, the world’s leading event for yarns and textiles, will be held on January 24-26 at the Fortezza da Basso venue in Florence. The show will host 115 producers, 10 of them from outside Italy (from Japan, the UK, Turkey, China and Hong Kong), exhibiting their Spring/Summer 2025 collections.
The show’s innovation section (Spazio Ricerca), labelled ‘Milestone’ in this edition, will be curated as usual by Angelo Figus and Nicola Miller, and will feature three chromatic/tactile themes: ‘Fluid’, evoking temperature variations from warmth to coldness; ‘Tactile’, exploring how the sense of touch enables perception; and ‘Concrete’, focusing on sophisticated, concrete sensations.
Among this edition’s main novelties, the introduction of CFMI Academy, a professional education programme for fashion design students focused on sustainable fashion design. CFMI Academy’s first training module, comprising a series of restricted-access workshops for final-year students and their teachers, will be held at the Fortezza da Basso’s UniCredit Theatre from 9:45 a.m. CET on January 26.
Pitti Filati will also present ‘Cashmere Trail’, an initiative combining fashion design and sustainable luxury, created in collaboration by Consinee – a Chinese group that is a market leader in certified, sustainably sourced premium yarns – and Vitelli, an Italian brand of innovative sustainable knitwear led by founder and Creative Director Mauro Simionato. Cashmere Trail will present a capsule collection of 10 cashmere items designed by Simionato, made using recycled yarn sourced from Consinee’s seasonal excess inventory.
Finally, Pitti Filati will feature the second season of the Customeasy section, taking an in-depth look at product customisation, and giving visitors the chance to meet a growing number of exhibitors offering a range of contemporary textile manufacturing specialisations. The section will showcase textile machinery, washing solutions for luxury knitwear, embroidery and finishing solutions, weaving and cutting tools, and design software, covering the entire creative process.
