In just a few years, Italian women’s ready-to-wear label Plan C has made its mark on the designer fashion market, winning over nearly 200 top multibrand retailers worldwide and opening four monobrand stores. Plan C was founded in 2018 by Carolina Castiglioni and her family (her parents Consuelo and Gianni Castiglioni were the original driving force behind Marni), and is now switching to a higher gear. The label is about to launch its first menswear collection, by staging a special event which is set to be one of the main attractions of the Pitti Uomo show, scheduled in Florence on June 11-14.
The Plan C event will be held on the show’s opening day, in the Sala delle Grotte hall in the Fortezza da Basso venue. Carolina Castiglioni, who has set up the label helped by her father Gianni and her brother Giovanni, has developed over the years a wardrobe of womenswear essentials with a contemporary feel, integrating it with accessories and working closely with the art world from early on. Plan C’s first menswear collection, for Spring/Summer 2025, consists of easily matched items and includes bags, backpacks and sandals.
The collection blends tailored looks, sportswear and workwear-inspired items, distinctive for their colourful palette and textural fabrics. It features garments with special finishings and sophisticated materials, like cotton poplin and a light textured cotton, high-tech textiles, and several varieties of wool. At Pitti Uomo, Plan C will also preview a few looks from its next womenswear collection.
“It is a project with a strong contemporary identity and a tailoring focus. We really like Carolina Castiglioni’s work and distinctive aesthetic. Her ongoing exploration of new conversations and interactions between fashion, art, and design is modern and deeply inspiring,” said in a press release Lapo Cianchi, head of communication and events at show organiser Pitti Immagine, and secretary general of the Pitti Discovery Foundation.
In recent seasons, Plan C has been steadily growing its revenue, and has focused on accessories, broadening its range. Its main market, accounting for 30% of total revenue, is Japan, where Plan C has three stores in Tokyo, at Isetan Shinjuku, Ginza Six and Hankyu. The label has a fourth Asian store in South Korea, in Seoul’s Galleria department store. Plan C also operates its own e-shop.
