As Central Govt is going to present its budget for FY25 on 23rd July 2024, several updates are expected on PM Kisan Samman Nidhi & Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme: Women & Farmers will be the focus of the upcoming budget to be presented by Nirmala Sitharaman on 23rd July 2024. In the Lok Sabha election results BJP faced massive setbacks in certain states. Considering upcoming assembly elections, the party can focus on different classes and states in the Budget.
According to the Money Control Report, a Rs 1,000 per month can be the new installment amount in transfer to farmers in PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. Also cash transfer for women below poverty line may be likely focus areas for Modi 3.0’s budget.
‘Two people aware of the budget discussions told Moneycontrol that the annual payout to farmers under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi could increase to Rs 12,000,’ stated the report.

At present, small landholding farmers are given Rs 2,000-2,000 thrice a year, that is, every year the central government gives financial assistance of Rs 6,000 to the farmers. Now it is expected that the Central Government is considering increasing this amount to Rs 12,000 annually. Also instead of the current installment cycle of three months, farmers will be given Rs 1,000 every month.
The budget could also announce a scheme under which Rs 1 lakh would be transferred to women below the poverty line.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Other Schemes In Focus Over Assembly Elections
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, a rural housing scheme, has been a success story for the government. The Budget could see an enhanced focus on the scheme. As of June 12, 2024, 2.94 crore houses have been sanctioned and 2.62 crore houses have been completed.
At the same time, state assembly elections are to be held a few months from now. Elections are to be held in Haryana and Maharashtra in November. Elections are to be held in Jharkhand and Delhi in early 2025. Therefore the government does not want to lose any opportunity.
