However, three other Café De Vili’s across Adelaide remain open.

Franchisor Café De Vili’s posted on its Facebook page confirming the independently owned Elizabeth store had closed down.

It said the cafe was not related to the family-owned Vili’s Bakery.

“The Company, Café 24/7 Pty Ltd trading as Café De Vili’s Elizabeth, was a licensed franchisee of Café De Vili’s. An entity unrelated to the ownership and operation of Vili’s Family Bakery,” it said.

“We remain fully committed to providing you with the high-quality service and products you have come to expect from our other sites, at Mile End, Hillcrest and Blair Athol.”

The Australian Securities & Investments Commission said in April there had been an almost 37 per cent increase in companies failing between July 2023 to 31 March 2024.

Food services accounted for the second-highest number of businesses collapsing.

Another popular Adelaide bakery Abbots and Kinney also closed one of its stores recently.

Its owner said price increases were part of the reasons for many businesses struggling.
