Prada group reorganises design studio with Luigi Preziotti design director of Prada, Dario Vitale of Miu Miu

The Prada group has reorganised its design studio. Following the departure of Fabio Zambardi, who was in charge of design at both Prada and Miu Miu, the Italian fashion group has made an internal promotion, appointing Luigi Preziotti as design director of Prada, while confirming that Dario Vitale will stay in the same role, which he had already assumed, at Miu Miu.

 
Zambardi was regarded as irreplaceable, having worked for 40 years with the group. He was fêted at the latest Prada runway show on September 21, when he came out to greet the audience alongside creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons. The group has decided to introduce a new structure featuring two design directors, each in charge of one of the group’s labels, as a source close to Prada told FashionNetwork.com.
 
Like Zambardi, Preziotti has been a long time with the group, which he joined in 2002. Over the course of a nearly 20-year career, he has mainly been involved with Prada’s women’s ready-to-wear collections, and some special projects. “He will report to Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, working on design development, runway shows and activities linked to the brand’s image and identity,” indicated an internal memo, as reported by MF Fashion.

The same profile applies to Vitale, who has been working for many years at Miu Miu, eventually becoming its design director. Vitale is recognised for the quality of his work and for Miu Miu’s positive results, and his standing has risen in recent months. Miu Miu’s retail sales soared in H1, growing by 21%, and the label will unveil its Spring/Summer 2024 collection in Paris on Tuesday October 3rd.
