RAIPUR: Expressing concern over the rising cases of student suicides, President Droupadi Murmu said that everyone should work in direction to support students and instil positivity in them beating the negative thinking. President was addressing to participants at a launch programme of ‘year of positive change’ at Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya Trust in Chhattisgarh capital on Thursday.
President referred to the recent suicide by the NEET aspirants in Rajasthan stating, “Just a few days back two NEET students ended their lives, may be due to pressure of studies and it’s a serious issue. While on one hand, our country is reaching new heights and we hoisted our national flag on the moon bringing laurels in the field of spots internationally, many aspirants of competitive exams have ended their lives in the past. It pains me to see students diving in negative thinking and taking extreme steps.”
President Murmu said that triumph and defeat are part of life, and momentary failure shouldn’t become reason to end life, rather there are examples when these failures have opened way towards success. Competition needs to be seen as a positive thing towards improved life, she said.
“I urge all stakeholders and concerned people to encourage students towards positivity and beat the negativity in their mind. Students be helped to deal study pressure in a positive manner and move ahead with confidence. It can be teachers, parents, family members, society who should make efforts to understand the mental status of students. Understanding own interest and capabilities, one needs to choose the right direction and talking to self is very important as it awakens inner self”, President said in her address.
Murmu admired the contribution of Brahma Kumaris in the society and said that the positive year of change will be helpful for children and students.
“Throughout my spiritual journey, the Brahma Kumaris organization has offered me unwavering support. During challenging times in my life, I sought their guidance,” she said.
Stressing upon spirituality, President said, though science and technology is important and makes life easy, we should take a short break from gadgets and develop inner strength to stay positive and strong mentally and physically. Choosing a good company that inspires to walk on right path is essential, she said.
“If you are dreaming of Ram Rajya, then you will have to become Ram and Sita and head in the same direction to make the country a Vishwa Guru“, she concluded.
Chhattisgarh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel were sharing the dais with President.
Governor in his address said, “When a society embraces positive change, it becomes stronger. We all know that change is the law of nature. The conservative and traditionalist society opposed to the required change and upgrade in beliefs and traditions gets cut off from the mainstream.”
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, “It is a moment of great pride for the people of Chhattisgarh to have President of India among us. The arrival of President of India today makes us feel as if one of our own has returned home.”
