Princess Kate’s subtle changes to Jenny Packham dress at Trooping | Royal | News

The Mail‘s Junior Fashion Editor, Alice Hare, explained the key changes Kate made to the dress: “Kate’s dress is a reworked version of the dress she wore to a coronation lunch at Buckingham Palace last year. (She owns the same dress in navy and black, too).

“The belt has been modified and a statement bow added to the neckline.”

Apart from the striking hat which was new, the Princess of Wales seems to have reworn items she’s worn before, including her earrings, which she first wore to Prince Louis’ christening in 2018, her clutch which has been in her wardrobe for years, as well as her heels that she’s worn on multiple occasions.

Ms Hare opined that despite Kate recycling an old dress, “the look seemed anything but ‘seen that before’.

She added: “It helps to have a new Philip Treacy hat, of course, but it’s the clever addition of the bow and the modified belt that are largely responsible for transforming a seemingly corporate pencil dress into a showstopping occasion piece.

“An Irish Guards’ regimental brooch provided an appropriate military note that acknowledged Kate’s role as Colonel of the Regiment.”

Royal fans seemed to have loved the royal’s look, with several comparing it to Audrey Hepburn’s iconic black and white dress in the film My Fair Lady.

It comes as searches for “Jenny Packham dress” exploded by more than 4,000 percent worldwide after Kate’s appearance on Saturday.

New research, conducted by artisan fashion brand LIIEVE, revealed that searches for the dress skyrocketed to over 44 times their average volume on June 15, seeing a 4,247 percent increase, an “unprecedented increase in searches for dresses by designer Jenny Packham”, according to the search data analysis.
