PS Plus June 2024 free PS5 and PS4 games release date, launch time, line-up and warning | Gaming | Entertainment

Sony is about to give the PS Plus Essentials line-up a refresh, as the next batch of free PS4 and PS5 games go live for the month of June. The next wave of PlayStation Plus Essentials have a June 4 release date and an estimated 11am BST UK launch time. The June Essentials are headlined by Dotemu’s superb beat-em-up Streets of Rage 4, which can be redeemed from June 4 until July 2. Streets of Rage 4 will be accompanied by the likes of SpongeBob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake, as well as Yuke’s wrestling game AEW Fight Forever. As an added bonus, May PS Plus Essential EA Sports FC 24 will be available until June 18, giving subscribers an extra couple of weeks to redeem the popular football game.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for fellow May 2024 PS Plus games Ghostrunner 2, Tunic and Destiny 2 Lightfall, which will be leaving the service on June 3.

Indeed, if you’re yet to redeem Ghostrunner 2, Lightfall and Tunic, then consider this your final warning.

It’s also worth pointing out that as part of Sony’s Days of Play event you can save upwards of 30% on a 12 month PlayStation Plus subscription.

This includes a PS Plus Essentials membership, which is reduced to around £47.99 until June 9. If you want access to even more games, you can sign up for discounted PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscriptions.

If you’re quick, you can even sign up before Ghostrunner 2, Destiny 2: Lightfall and Tunic leave the service on the morning of June 4.

As for the June 2024 PlayStation Plus Essentials, the highlight is the excellent Streets of Rage 4. Once you’ve download Streets of Rage 4, I would highly recommend picking up the Mr. X Nightmare expansion.

The Mr. X expansion typically costs £6.49, although for the next few days it’s down to just £3.24.

Mr. X Nightmare adds an addictive survival mode, where the aim is to clear as many stages as possible.

After each stage you’ll receive the choice of multiple different power-ups, such as toxic attacks, increased damage, double jumps and faster movement.

Meanwhile, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is a 3D platform game featuring seven different worlds such as Wild West Jellyfish Fields and Halloween Rock Bottom.

It also features the voice actors from the cartoon series, as well as a number of tunes fans will be familiar with.

Finally, AEW Fight Forever is something of a mixed bag. The wrestling game definitely has potential, but is missing some of the features fans have come to expect from a triple-A wrestling release.
