The new PS Plus Essentials will be officially revealed later this week. Assuming the titles don’t leak ahead of schedule, Sony will announce the March 2024 PlayStation Plus games at 4.30pm GMT UK time on the afternoon of February 28. The free PS4 and PS5 games will be available to download and play less than a week later, on the morning of March 5. As subscribers get ready for the big reveal, some fans have been attempting to predict the games line-up for March 2024.
In the monthly predictions thread over on Reddit, multiple contributors believe Sifu and Forspoken will finally make an appearance on PS Plus.
Martial arts action game Sifu and fantasy adventure game Forspoken regularly appear on the monthly thread, and fans are convinced that at least one of the titles will come to PlayStation Plus in March.
Sifu, in particular, would make a fantastic addition to the PS Plus line-up. The game features an ultra-stylish combat system, as well as a unique gameplay mechanic where the protagonist ages after every death.
Development studio Sloclap has been busy keeping the game updated with new content since launch, adding new challenges and an Arenas mode for players who manage to finish the campaign.
Despite a nifty traversal system and some interesting ideas, Forspoken didn’t quite live up to expectations when it launched early last year. Still, there’s a sense that it would be a welcome addition to the PS Plus library, and might give publisher Square Enix the ability to make some money from the game’s DLC.
Elsewhere, Sonic Frontiers is another popular choice among Reddit users attempting to predict the games line-up.
“Worlds are colliding in Sonic the Hedgehog’s newest high-speed adventure!” reads the official description. “In search of the missing Chaos emeralds, Sonic becomes stranded on an ancient island teeming with unusual creatures.
“Battle hordes of powerful enemies as you explore a breathtaking world of action, adventure, and mystery. Accelerate to new heights and experience the thrill of high-velocity, open-zone platforming freedom as you race across the five massive Starfall Islands.
“Jump into adventure, wield the power of the Ancients, and fight to stop these new mysterious foes. Welcome to the evolution of Sonic games!”
Other picks include Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Death Stranding, High on Life, Stray, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Gotham Knights, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Crisis Core and Like a Dragon Ishin.
The poorly received Gollum game gets a mention or two, alongside various Need for Speed games, Madden NFL, and titles from The Dark Pictures Anthology.
Some of the more optimistic contributors have even suggested Elden Ring, arguing that giving the game away on PS Plus will encourage more people to purchase the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
Needless to say, first-party games like The Last of Us Part 1 Remake, God of War Ragnarok and Gran Turismo 7 have all received votes, although I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
