On the advice of doctors, the Queen and her team have modified her schedule as the royals prepare to welcome the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani.

Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales are expected to be in attendance at the Horse Guards Parade welcoming ceremony.

It is understood that the lingering effects of the chest infection, which was announced publicly on November 5, have left Camilla with low energy.

She is expected however to attend the traditional lunch at Buckingham Palace.

On the final day of the visit, the Queen is expected to join King Charles for the farewells.

While the move marks a change in Queen Camilla’s original plans, Buckingham Palace has not announced any updates to her diagnosis or treatment.

State visits typically involve busy schedules, and it is understood the Queen is prioritising her recovery by scaling back.

She reportedly fell ill after returning from her visit to Australia and Samoa with the King in October.

Camillia did not attend Remembrance Day ceremonies in November, a major event in the royal calendar and also missed the annual Royal Variety Concert last week.

“Following a recent chest infection, the Queen continues to experience some lingering post-viral symptoms, as a result of which doctors have advised that, after a busy week of engagements, Her Majesty should prioritise sufficient rest,” the palace said.

“With great regret, she has therefore withdrawn from attendance at tonight’s Royal Variety Performance,” the statement went on.

“His Majesty will attend as planned.”

The King also attended church in St Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham over the weekend, and was seen arriving solo, as reported by Hello! Magazine.

It is hoped that Camilla will be well enough to attend the Princess of Wales’ annual Christmas carols evening which this year will be held on December 6.

Camilla spoke out on her ongoing health issues on November 12 during a reception at Clarence House for The Booker Prize Foundation.

“I’m obviously getting much better, bit of sort of coughing going on,” the Queen remarked in a video shared on X.

“I really wanted to come.”

In another conversation, also posted to X, she was heard saying: “I’m on the mend, these things always take a bit of time to get rid of. You think you got rid of it, they just sort of hang on for a bit.”
