Jacob Elordi, the Internet’s boyfriend, hosted Saturday Night Live last night with musical guest Reneé Rapp, who’s been busy making her press rounds as the star of the new Mean Girls reboot. In the film, Rapp reprises the role of head mean girl Regina George, a role that was immortalized by Rachel McAdams in the original 2004. As though to bequeath a new queen, McAdams made a surprise SNL visit to introduce Rapp’s performance of “Not My Fault” featuring Megan Thee Stallion.
Though McAdams only made about a five second cameo on the show—“Ladies and gentleman, Reneé Rapp!”—it didn’t stop the audience from erupting in excited cheers nonetheless. Her fabulous bright red power suit was certainly worth the applause. After the show wrapped, McAdams then joined the rest of the SNL cast for the official after-party, held at New York’s celebrity-favorite restaurant L’Avenue in midtown. (Cara Delevingne, Busy Philips, and Steven Spielberg also hit up the bash—what a crew.)
It’s been a great week for Mean Girls fans, and McAdams’s glorious SNL appearance isn’t the only gift that fans of the original film have been treated to this year, either. Lindsay Lohan (or, rather, Cady Heron) also made a surprise appearance at the film’s premiere in New York City earlier this month. Now, all we need now is an official reunion with the whole 2004 cast—someone call Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert!
