Rag & Bone Opens Store in Charleston, S.C.

Rag & Bone opened a new shop in Charlestown, S.C., on Friday.

Located at 383 King Street, the 1,905-square-foot store is a historic space that infuses Charleston’s Southern culture with Rag & Bone’s gritty New York style.

Rag & Bone’s internal design team designed the shop, which features 60 percent womenswear and 40 percent menswear. Rag & Bone has no wholesale distribution in Charleston, and this is its first store in South Carolina.

The company anticipates that the featherweight denim and dresses will do well in women’s, and Flame Ts and Harvey sweaters will be bestsellers for men. Overall, prices range from $85 to $995.

Designing the Charleston store, Rag & Bone said it wanted to retain as much of the original architecture as possible. The building was constructed in 1891 and was originally a hardware store and most recently, a pizza restaurant. The company retained the exposed brick and steel beams and original exterior storefronts. The store has French oak wood flooring, brass fixtures, custom hand-made wrap-around walnut shelves, a nine-foot black ebonized wood table for menswear with a hand-finished brass inlaid center, and vintage rugs. The shop was designed specifically for Charleston.

At present, the company has close to 40 stores in the U.S. and U.K., and the brand is available at specialty and department stores in 53 countries.

The brand plans to open a new store in Newport Beach, Calif., in mid-to-late September and will reopen in Aspen in late October or early November.

As reported, Robert Geller has been named head of menswear and his first collection will be for fall, dropping this month.
