New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals consolidated their position at the top while Delhi Capitals displaced Chennai Super Kings at fifth in the points table with respective wins in the ongoing IPL 2024 on Saturday. While Delhi Capitals secured their fifth win in the competition with a 10-run win over Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals had an easy seven-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants. Kolkata Knight Riders (second), Sunrisers Hyderabad (third) and LSG (fourth) complete the top four. One more win for Rajasthan Royals will make them qualify for the playoffs.
Among the batters on the list for Orange Cap, three captains – Sanju Samson (RR), Rishabh Pant (DC) and KL Rahul (LSG) – made significant gains to break into the top five on the day. A 33-bal 71 not out helped Samson to climb to second spot with 385 runs from nine games. Rahul, who scored 76 off 48 balls is third with 378 runs while Pant’s 19-ball unbeaten 29 helped him to fourth. Virat Kohli is sitting top of the list with 430 runs.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah reclaimed the Purple Cap from Harshal Patel after his 1/35 helped the Mumbai Indians pacer to 14 wickets. Mukesh Kumar, who took three wickets against Mumbai Indians, rose to fourth position. Harshal (13) is currently while Kuldeep Yadav occupies the fifth spot.
