Real-Life Weight Loss Story: Everybody’s weight loss journey is different. Every person has a unique reason for starting this new chapter that calls for both physical and mental engagement, along with an inspiring story to tell. Rattan Singh has a similar story, a story that many people might relate to. He said, “My motivation stemmed from a major health scare involving my slip disc. Surgery seemed to be the only option, but fearing complications, I chose weight loss as a way to regain my health and avoid disability. My sister’s successful journey also inspired me to begin my own transformation.” So, India.com got into an exclusive conversation with him to track his fitness journey.

Here is Ashutosh Agrawal’s inspiring weight loss story and how he lost 15 kg in 3.5 months by replacing chapati with rice and reducing his sugar intake.

How Much Did You Lose in How Many Days?

I lost 15 kgs over a period of 3.5 months.

What Was Your Weight Loss Diet And Routine?

I kept certain intervals between meals (4 hours between breakfast and lunch, 7 between lunch and supper, and 12 overnight) as part of my intermittent fasting schedule (4-7-12). I added four litres of water per day and substituted protein shakes for two meals. With salads and one fruit per meal, lunch was primarily 70% raw. By consuming less chapati and more rice, I was able to manage my hunger while still eating healthily. I made it a habit to go for a walk after every meal.

Did You Completely Cut Down on Sugar?

Yes, I drastically reduced my sugar intake. I limited myself to just one small cup of tea in the evening with minimal sugar, a big change from my earlier habit of multiple tumbler-sized sugary teas.

Did You Have Cheat Meals?

Surprisingly, I did not indulge in cheat meals as I was extremely motivated throughout the program. Staying consistent was my priority, so I avoided temptations.

What is One Rule That You Abide by For Losing Weight?

Consistency is key. I weighed myself every day to stay aware of my progress and avoid mindless eating. This simple habit kept me on track.

What Was One Thing That Worked Best For You?

Replacing chapati with rice was the most effective dietary change. Rice helped me feel full and reduced my cravings. Plus, it’s less processed compared to wheat-based products.

One Challenge That You Faced And How Did You Overcome it?

Reducing sugar was the biggest challenge for me, especially dealing with withdrawal symptoms like headaches and lethargy. I overcame it by staying focused on my goal and gradually reducing my sugar intake until I could manage without it.

Is There a Weight Loss Myth That You Got to Know About During Your Journey?

Yes, the biggest myth I discovered was that you need to give up rice to lose weight. I found the opposite to be true—switching from chapati to rice was instrumental in my journey!
