Reduce blood sugar after meals by sipping on one particular hot drink

A nutritionist has revealed a one tea that could help those with diabetes manage their blood sugar levels.

Charmaine Dominguez, who goes by @reversingdiabetesrvltn on TikTok, is dedicated to helping people combat type 2 diabetes, a condition characterised by high blood sugar levels.

As per NHS guidelines, type 2 diabetes can lead to symptoms such as excessive thirst, frequent urination, and fatigue, although many individuals may not experience any symptoms at all.

The condition is often associated with being overweight or inactive, or having a family history of the ailment.

“The star of the show today is green tea,” Charmaine exclaimed. “There are studies that show that green tea can significantly lower your blood sugar – after a meal.”

Charmaine explained that one study compared the effects of drinking hot water after a meal to drinking green tea, and the results were conclusive. “They actually found green tea can lower blood sugar after eating,” she stated.

“So make sure you pour yourself a cup of unsweetened green tea after each meal to help you have a better blood sugar balance.” Charmaine also revealed the identity of another beverage that she believes offers even more benefits.

“What’s even better is matcha,” she elaborated. Matcha, a finely ground powder made from specially cultivated and processed green tea leaves, originated in China.

Charmaine went on to say: “Matcha is much more concentrated – I’m not talking about matcha lattes and all that sugary stuff – I’m talking about matcha – it’s just made with water and has super-high anti-oxidants and it can help you lose weight and lower blood sugar.”

She concluded by adding that matcha can also serve as a “pick-me-up” and provide “a little bit more energy”. Her 665,000 followers seemed appreciative of the advice, with one replying: “Thank you. Love all your info.”

Another chimed in: “Thank you for your knowledge.” While a third simply wrote: “You’re the best.”
