Reduce, Reuse And Recycle is Dr. Urvashi Mittal’s Path to a Greener Planet

Reduce, Reuse And Recycle: How District Chairman of Inner Wheel, Dr. Urvashi Mittal, Champions a Greener Tomorrow With Triple R Mantra.

Our environment shapes who we are, highlighting the crucial need to protect it for the well-being of all life. Inner Wheel, the world’s largest women’s voluntary service organization, plays a key role in fostering greenery and fresh air through its various initiatives. In her recent assembly address, the distinguished President, Draupadi Murmu Ji, proudly revealed that 2 crore trees will be planted this year—a remarkable milestone to which Inner Wheel D 301 (Delhi & NCR) has contributed its part.

Under Dr. Urvashi Mittal (formerly Usha Goel), the District Chairman of Inner Wheel District 301 for the Centenary year 2023-24’s leadership, Inner Wheel District 301 emphasises the pillars of EEE – Environment, Education, and Empowerment, with a dedicated focus on the Triple R – RRR initiative: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. To address environmental challenges, District Executives wore sarees made from water hyacinth, demonstrating their commitment to sustainability. Additionally, training sessions led by Mr. Kaushik from Swachhata Pukare empowered villagers in ATOUR to launch eco-friendly projects. Steel flasks were distributed to reduce the use of plastic bottles, further promoting the ‘SAY NO TO PLASTIC’ campaign.

In the pursuit of ‘REUSE,’ Inner Wheel Vintage shops have been established to reduce textile waste. Embracing ‘RECYCLE,’ the introduction of benches made from recycled plastic and polythene during District Installation SHATAROHAN is a significant accomplishment.

The mantra ‘The ones who try never lose’ echoes through the dedicated efforts of Inner Wheel clubs. Many clubs have adopted these initiatives spearheaded by District Chairman Dr. Urvashi Mittal, leading to the acquisition of benches made from waste plastic and polythene, the purchase of sarees crafted from water hyacinth, and the promotion of Inner Wheel Vintage shops/carts. Dr. Mittal’s personal dedication to sustainability has earned her the nickname ‘Flask Lady’ in the media, as she consistently carries her steel flask, inspiring others to follow suit.

The collective impact of individual contributions is both significant and meaningful. As responsible citizens, we can conserve energy at home, practice mindful water usage, and reduce paper consumption. ‘Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.’ Collaborating with like-minded individuals enhances our ability to tackle social issues effectively.

In conclusion, She urges readers to take action to save the environment. “If you are already doing so, that’s wonderful; if not, now is the perfect time to start. Every day is a good day and every moment is a good time to begin. If you’re still unsure, ask yourself, ‘if not now, then when?’ ‘Be the change you wish to see in the world.’ Let this article serve as a ‘wake-up’ call; let’s begin before it’s too late. I am confident that this world will be a better place to live in. As we embark on this journey towards environmental stewardship, remember that every action, no matter how small, contributes to the greater good. Let’s inspire each other to embrace sustainability in our daily lives and work together towards a brighter, greener future for generations to come. Amidst the chaos, let’s sow seeds of change. For a greener world, let’s all arrange”, she concluded.
