Ride On Vistadome Coach Train Is Magical Experience One Should Take; Images And Videos Inside

Vistadome Coach: What started as a single Vistadome coach in a Goa-bound train in 2018, has now gone up to six long-distance trains from Mumbai having Vistadome coaches and they are a huge hit with passengers.

In 2023-24, more than 1.76 lakh passengers travelled in Central Railway Vistadome coaches, registering revenue earnings of Rs 26.5 crore, said a senior official on Sunday.

“Whether it is the breathtaking views of the valleys, rivers, and waterfalls along the Mumbai-Goa route or the spectacular views of the Western Ghats along the Mumbai-Pune route, the Vistadome coaches on Central Railway are extremely popular, having received an overwhelming response from passengers. These coaches with glass tops and wide window panes have proved to be a hit,” said Central Railways chief spokesperson Swapnil Nila.

Following the overwhelming response from passengers, another Vistadome coach on the Mumbai-Madgaon route was attached to Tejas Express on September 15, 2022.

“After the first coach in the Goa-bound train, there was huge demand from passengers to have Vistadome coaches in other trains as well. The immense popularity of these coaches led to the introduction of this coach in Mumbai-Pune Deccan Express from June 26, 2021. Also, considering the demand from passengers, two more Vistadome coaches on Mumbai-Pune route were attached to Deccan Queen from August 15, 2021, and in Pragati Express from July 25, 2022. One Vistadome coach was attached in Pune-Secunderabad Shatabdi Express with effect from August 10, 2022,” added Nila.

The Vistadome coaches were introduced on Central Railways in Mumbai-Madgaon Janshatabdi Express in 2018. The Vistadome coaches with glass tops and wide windowpanes have proved to be a hit, especially on the Pune-Mumbai and Mumbai-Goa routes, according to the information shared by the Central Railways.

“The Vistadome coaches apart from having a glass roof top have several other features like wide windowpanes, LED lights, Rotatable Seats and Pushback Chairs, Electrically Operated Automatic Sliding Compartment Doors, Wide sliding doors for Divyangs, Toilets with ceramic tile flooring etc and last but not the least, the Viewing gallery,” said Pune railway division spokesperson Rampal Barpagga.

Apart from standard safety arrangements, the glass used in Vistadome coaches is shatter-resistant with a film coating for the safety of passengers.

Wide window panes and a roof of switchable glass that becomes either transparent or translucent with just the click of a switch ensures that passengers can gaze endlessly at the scenic landscape en route with an exclusive glass observation lounge to allow uninterrupted sightseeing.
