Rishabh Pant is playing his first Test match in over two years after the horrific car accident in December 2022.
Chennai: Rishabh Pant is a character both behind and in front of the wicket. While he is one of the chirpiest wicketkeepers in world cricket, the southpaw made everyone laugh their heart out by setting the Bangladesh fielding on Day 3 of the ongoing first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday.
The incident took place shortly after the play started on an overcast morning on third day. Pant, taking the strike, noticed the opposition captain Najmul Hossain Shanto having a tough time in his field placements. “Arre idhar aayega ek…bhai, ek idhar, one fielder here, mid-wicket,” Pant said.
Interestingly, Shanto and the bowler (a pacer) did exactly as Pant advised by placing a fielder at mid-wicket, leaving the on-air commentators in splits.
Always in the captain’s ear, even when it’s the opposition’s!
