A Bolinas beach house that was once owned by rockers Grace Slick and Paul Kantner has been listed for $14.99 million. Slick and Kantner were original members of Jefferson Airplane, a rock group founded in 1965 that was later rebranded Jefferson Starship, and then Starship.
Kantner bought the house in 1970 and lived there with Slick. The couple frequently hosted famed San Francisco rock musician Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead there. In fact, the family room was a makeshift stage where members of Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead and other musicians would have jam sessions late into the evening.
The updated 4,074-square-foot oceanfront home has four bedrooms and four bathrooms. Expansive decks and patios offer stunning views of crashing waves nearby. There is also an outdoor firepit, spa and a mosaic-tiled, guitar-shaped pool designed by Slick.
Kara and Paul Warrin with Golden Gate Sotheby’s International Realty are the listing agents.
With Starship, Slick sang co-lead for two No. 1 hits, “We Built This City” and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now.”
