Rohit Sharma, who continued from where he left against Afghanistan, took Pakistani bowlers to the cleaners during his whirlwind knock of 86 off 63 balls, stressed on his role as a skipper saying his role comes into play while figuring out the right players to get the job done.
“My job as a captain is important there as well. It’s to read the conditions and figure out who’s the right guy to do the job. It’s only because the guys – before entering the World Cup – they got a lot of runs. We were very clear what we wanted to do. Didn’t want to be in two minds about who’s going to bat where,” he told the official broadcasters after the match.

Indian bowlers fired in unison with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja chipping in with two wickets apiece to bundle out Pakistan 191 in 42.5 overs.
Rohit lauded the bowlers’ efforts for setting up the victory as Pakistan were at one stage looking to score close to 300. But Indian bowlers scripted a stunning collapse that saw Pakistan lose 8 wickets for 36 runs.
“The bowlers were the ones today as well who set the game up for us. I don’t think it was a 190 pitch. At one stage we were looking at 280. The way they showed grit says a lot. That is something we pride ourselves in. Whoever gets the ball does the job. We’ve got 6 individuals who can do the job with the ball,” he added.
