Mumbai: There is much speculation over Rohit Sharma future at the Indian Premier League after he stepped down from MI captaincy under mysterious circumstances. With a mega auction set to take place before the IPL 2025 season, reports suggest that Rohit will leave MI and make himself available at the auction. While many teams could be interested in him, Punjab Kings owner Preity Zinta has promised to bid for Rohit if he is up for auction.
“I will bet my life to get Rohit Sharma if he comes in mega auction. We are only missing a captain in our team who brings on some stability and champion mindset,” she said while speaking on Star Sports.
Rohit is the first captain in IPL history to win 5 titles. He has also led MI to the Champions League T20 crown. He will be one of the keys to MI’s fortunes this season at the IPL. he would be expected to get the side of to good starts inside the powerplays.
“I haven’t really thought about retirement. But I don’t know where life takes you. I am still playing well at this point in time – so I am thinking I am going to continue for a few more years and then, I don’t know. I really want to win the World Cup and there is a WTC final in 2025, hopefully India makes it,” Rohit told renowned anchor and host Gaurav Kapur on his show Breakfast with Champions.
The T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on June 2, just six days after the IPL 2024 final.
