Ronny Kobo invited retailers, media and friends to brunch on Sunday to her showroom at 70 West 40th Street to preview her spring collection. Among the retailers checking out the line were Divya Mathur, chief merchandising officer and fashion director at the Revolve Group, and Clea O’hana, cofounder of Wishi, the personalized e-commerce platform.
“We wanted to really give faux leather an opportunity to shine. Obviously knitwear is really important,” said Kobo, taking a group of buyers through the showroom. She also showed pants that are alternatives to denim, as well as denim. She said the denim group that she launched in February at stores such as Saks and Revolve “is killling it.”
Kobo also showed off real leathers and khakis in denim, along with her slouchy, high-waisted pants.
“I’m really inspired by this, every girl is going to wear them,” said Kobo. She said she’s also doing a lot of ruffles for spring. Some of the highlights are skirts in faux leather, jumpsuits in denim, and lots of dresses.
“I have 15 dresses coming in seven different colors. That missing rack over there, that’s going to be coming,” said Kobo.
Kobo is also showing a leather jumpsuit for spring. “Who doesn’t want one in January?” asked Kobo, who’s also excited about her easy knitwear. “I’m very much in touch with what my consumer wants. Who doesn’t want that?”
