Roots has teamed up with streetwear brand Clot to introduce two exclusive collections to commemorate Roots’ 50th anniversary and Clot’s 20th anniversary.
The first collection, titled ‘Go Outside: You’ll Be Glad’ launches Friday in Canada and Saturday in Asia, with a second collection set to launch on January 13, aligning with the Lunar New Year.
The gender-free collection features a range of core wardrobe pieces, including a Leather Varsity Jacket, Crewnecks, Kanga Hoodies, and Track Pants, with prices ranging from $18 to $1,398 CAD.
Co-designed by Edison Chen, the founder and creative director of Clot, the collection features high-quality embroidery and handcrafted pieces from the Roots Toronto factory. Designed to inspire wearers to connect with their surroundings amidst the chaos of daily life, the collection is a literal interpretation of the accessibility of the outdoors, whether in the scenic landscapes of Canada or the bustling streets of Hong Kong.
“The design foundation of Clot was built around inclusivity and honoring the streetwear culture of the East, and this has not changed in our 20-year history. The beauty of collaborating with a brand as iconic as Roots to celebrate Clot’s 20th anniversary is our shared purpose and design ethos: combining style and culture to bring people together,” said Chen.
Shot against the backdrop of Chen’s hometown, Vancouver, the campaign captures the essence of classic street style photography infused with a global perspective and the Canadian wilderness. With meadows, lakes, and mountainous terrain as the setting, the campaign encourages wearers to go outside.
“This is a serendipitous fusion of Edison’s Vancouver heritage and our deep Canadian roots, both of which celebrate the splendor of the great outdoors,” added Meghan Roach, Roots CEO.

Looking ahead, the second, Lunar New Year collection will include an assortment of fleece, tees, and accessories, including a leather Banff Bag, leather Tote and Charm, and a Leather Varsity Jacket. Both collections will be available on Tmall (CLOT and Roots), in Roots stores in Canada, the US, and Taiwan, across JUICE stores in China, and online at roots.com.
