Rumion: Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Rumion: Key differences explained

Toyota Kirloskar Motor recently launched the Toyota Rumion MPV in the Indian market. The Rumion is essentially the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and is a product that is the outcome of the global partnership between Toyota and Suzuki. The Rumion is the fifth product from the Toyota and Suzuki partnership after Invicto, Glanza, Hyryder and Urban Cruiser (now discontinued).

In this article, let’s take a look at the key differences between the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Rumion.
Design
The main difference between both MPVs is the design changes. The Rumion gets a revamped front bumper with a bigger grille which looks similar to the Innova. The Ertiga gets a slightly smaller front grille with chrome trims all around. Both MPVs get differently designed lower bumper and fog lamp housings. At the rear, there are no changes made to the MPVs except the replacement of the logo, it gets the same bumper design.

Alloy wheels
There are no changes made to the MPV on the side except differently designed alloy wheels. Both MPVs get 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels but the one in the Rumion looks a bit sporty and stylish.

Interior
The Toyota Rumion and Maruti Ertiga get the same dashboard layout with the same set of features which Includes a 7-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Arkamys sound system and automatic climate control and a three-row, seven-seat layout. Safety features include four airbags, ABD with EBD, an electronic stability program and seat belt reminders for all seats.

The main difference here is, that the Maruti Ertiga gets a dual-tone beige and black cabin theme but Rumion gets a grey shade inside the cabin. The layout of the steering wheel too remains the same except for the replacement of the logo.
Colour options
The Toyota Rumion is available in five colour options – Spunky Blue, Rustic Brown, Iconic Grey, Cafe White, and Enticing Silver. The Maruti Ertiga is offered in seven colour options – Dignity Brown, Magma Grey, Oxford Blue, Auburn Red, Splendid Silver, Arctic White, and Midnight Black.

Pricing and variants
The Toyota Rumion is offered in three variants – S, G and V. The price for the MPV starts from Rs 10.29 lakh and goes up to 12.18 lakh (both prices Ex-showroom). The Maruti Ertiga is offered in four variants – LXi (O), VXi (O), ZXi (O) and ZXi+. The price starts from Rs 8.64 lakh and goes up to 11.83 lakh (both prices Ex-showroom).
