Indian tennis legend Sania Mirza and former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh have been named Dubai Sports Ambassadors at a grand event this week.
Indian tennis legend Sania Mirza had made Dubai as her ‘second home’ since her marriage to former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik. But earlier this year Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza’s marriage has ended in divorce and the former Pakistan all-rounder has gone on to marry TV star Sana Javed.
But Sania continued to live in Dubai even after the end of her marriage with Shoaib Malik. The former India doubles number one owns a palatial house in Palm Jumeirah location in Dubai, where she stays with her son Izhaan.
Sania’s son also attends school in Dubai and is often seen undertaking football practice in the city as well. Earlier this week, Dubai embraced Sania as their own and named her as one of Dubai Sports Ambassadors along with former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, connected with leading sports figures and athletes at the Dubai Sports Retreat, organized by the Dubai Sports Council and held at the Museum of the Future, in the presence of Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the chairman of the Dubai Sports Council.
The Dubai Sports Retreat featured 100 prominent figures from the sports world, including renowned UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and India’s former world No. 1 doubles player Sania Mirza and former Mumbai Indians captain Harbhajan Singh.
The Dubai Sports Retreat held at the Museum of the Future, brought together 100 prominent local and international figures, including renowned sports stars, further demonstrating Dubai’s growing status as a global sports destination.

Regarding the Dubai Sports Retreat program, Sheikh Hamdan shared an update on his X handle, stating, “I met with Dubai’s sports ambassadors, a distinguished group of Arab and international stars who call Dubai home. Their commitment to advancing sports and nurturing talent is truly inspiring.”
While Sania was getting honoured, Shoaib Malik was trolled on social media for taking part in an event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. “Unforgettable moments at Suwaidi Park in Riyadh! Connecting with the Pakistani community and sharing our passion for cricket was truly special. Saudi Arabia, thank you for the love and warmth!” Malik had posted on Instagram.
But the former Pakistan captain was trolled for ‘copying’ his ex-wife Sania Mirza in Riyadh. “Shoaib v hope u realise one day how much wrong u did to Sania and Izhan..God wil surely punish you..karma hits back,” one user wrote in the comments of the post.
