Scotch & Soda was rarely out of the news in the past few years, first for its ambitious store expansion programme and then for its spectacular implosion in 2023. But now, under new owners, the brand is in expansion mode again and this week opened the doors of its revamped store on Carnaby Street, London.
It said the move marks “a new chapter for the beloved brand under new ownership”.
The store at 13-14 Carnaby street comes 12 months after the label was acquired by New York-based brand management company, Bluestar Alliance.
Bluestar said that the UK reopening is being led by Victor Barbosa, the South African business owner who’s worked closely with the label for 13 years. “Renowned for his success in managing Scotch & Soda in South Africa, Barbosa brings extensive experience and expertise to this exciting partnership,” it explained.
Barbosa said that “bringing Scotch & Soda back to Carnaby Street has been an exciting journey” and the “fresh and inviting shopping experience truly captures the essence of the brand”.
And his business partner Shaun Els added: “Our vision was to create a space that not only showcases our unique collections but also offers a vibrant atmosphere where our customers feel inspired.”
Vibrant it certainly is and the store works well in the lively environment of Carnaby Street with the design “characterised by pops of colour that reflect the brand’s signature eclectic style”.
It offers the full line-up of menswear and womenswear, as well as accessories and footwear.
Along with Scotch & Soda, Bluestar Alliance owns, manages, and markets a wider portfolio of consumer brands including Hurley, Elie Tahari, Brookstone, Justice, bebe and Limited Too.
