Every year when fall rolls around, I’m instantly transported back to my childhood days of back-to-school shopping. A shoe enthusiast from a young age, my favorite part of preparing for a new school year was, hands down, finding the perfect pair of sneakers to wear to class. Even now, I find myself eagerly anticipating the moment when I can pick out a fresh pair of sneakers to usher in the new season, capturing that back-to-school essence no matter my age. This fall, I’ve been on a mission to break down all the sneaker trends 2024 has brought thus far, and I think I’ve struck sneaker gold.

Adidas Sambas were undoubtedly the shoe of 2023, ubiquitously taking over the feet of people across all age groups. And while I still love my Sambas, I think we’re all ready for something a bit more original in 2024. Spoiler alert: there’s not just one it-pair of sneakers this year—there are 10.

Whether you’re a dedicated sneakerhead or simply looking to update your autumn wardrobe, our curated insights into the top sneaker trends of 2024 will ensure your feet are fashion forward. Read on for our tested-and-approved, must-have styles and trends that are shaping the sneaker landscape this fall.

Fit details: I’m a true size 6, but I prefer my sneakers to be a bit roomy.

Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66

The Onitsuka Tiger brand is by far my favorite sneaker trends 2024 has brought to my attention, and the Mexico 66 sneakers are on my short list of standouts I’ve purchased this year. Featuring a slim shape and a sporty design, these shoes never fail to make every outfit cooler. Comfortable and somehow flattering on the feet, these will continue to be my go-to sneakers into fall. Now I just need to decide on what color to order next. (Pro tip: the sizing is unisex, so be sure to follow the size guide!)

Vince Oasis-W Sneakers

These Vince Sneakers are a bit more of a splurge, but the clean white and grey colorway ensures great cost per wear—these shoes are guaranteed to pair with everything. Definitely the most elevated of the bunch, these sneakers are made with buttery soft leather and complementary suede accents. Suitable for both casual and dressy occasions, these scream quiet luxury. Bonus points for coming with an extra set of interchangeable laces, too.

New Balance® 327 Women's Sneakers

I just purchased my second pair of New Balance 327s because I quite literally wore my first pair into the ground. These sneakers are the definition of athleisure shoes—I wear them with jeans, shorts, workout clothes, and everything in between. Comfy enough to wear on a five-mile walk but cute enough to wear out to lunch, you’ll find yourself reaching for them constantly. Not to mention that the price point can’t be beat.

Tretorn Rawlins Sneakers

The Tretorn Rawlins 2.0 Sneakers in white, pink, and orange perfectly capture the vibrant color blocking that’s dominating sneaker trends in 2024. These sneakers blend retro charm with modern flair, featuring a sleek silhouette and a mix of leather and canvas uppers. While shopping this week, I found this shade of orange in just about every store, so you can be sure these will pair perfectly with any new fall wardrobe purchases.

Rag & Bone Retro Runner Slim

I’ve been eyeing these 70s-inspired sneakers for months, and when they finally went on sale I checked out at lightning speed. The slim silhouette offers a more refined take on the chunky sneaker trend, and the blue and yellow color combination is as surprisingly wearable as it is fun. Exceeding expectations of comfort, these will undoubtedly be a staple in my fall 2024 wardrobe.

Autry Reelwind Sneaker

I always love a pop of red, and these Autry sneakers might be my favorite pop yet. Super sporty, yet still sophisticated with suede detailing, these shoes are perfect for any fall outing. With its cushioned insole and durable construction, the Reelwind checks boxes for both style and substance. I’m also obsessed with the American flag in the logo, which adds a fun, retro aesthetic to the sneakers. If a bold red isn’t your thing, no worries—Autry has plenty of neutral colors to shop, as well.

Veja Rio Branco Sneaker

You’re probably most familiar with Veja’s signature Campo Sneakers, but allow me to introduce you to their sportier, cooler sister, the Rio Branco Sneakers. Capturing the feel of your favorite vintage sneakers, I love that these can be styled with both denim and athletic wear. Plus, chocolate brown and lavender might just be my new favorite color combo, inspiring all sorts of fall outfit ideas.

Dolce Vita Dolen Sneakers

Denim on denim is one of my favorite evergreen trends, and these knit denim sneakers from Dolce Vita are the perfect way to bring the trend to sneakers. Featuring a uniquely knit body, these shoes almost contour to your feet, are blister-proof, and couldn’t be comfier. I also love that the thick sole gives me an extra inch or two of height, making my legs look long and lean. An excellent budget-friendly alternative to the Chloé Nama Sneakers

Sam Edelman Isabel Sneakers

I was originally drawn to these sneakers because they slightly reminded me of the Loewe sneakers (which are at the top of my wishlist but way out of my budget), and seeing them in person did not disappoint. These are purely leisure sneakers and don’t have much cushioning, similar to Adidas Sambas, but they’re still more than comfortable enough for everyday wear. I also have a feeling that the butter yellow trend of spring/summer 2024 might translate into more mustard hues like these sneakers this fall!

Alohas Tb.240 Sneakers

The Alohas Tb.240 Sneakers are an excellent eco-conscious alternative to Adidas Sambas. The white base is beautifully accented with hints of green detailing, offering a pop of color that’s both tasteful and timeless. These sneakers showcase Alohas’ dedication to sustainable fashion, featuring responsibly sourced materials without compromising on style. It’s worth noting that the leather is a bit stiff at first, but will start to relax after the first few wears.
