CUPERTINO — A small plane gave commuters a drive they won’t forget after landing on a South Bay highway Monday morning, authorities said.
It all happened about 7 a.m., when the plane came down on its wheels in the southbound lanes of state Highway 85 just south of the Stevens Creek Boulevard exit, according to a statement posted on social media from the California Highway Patrol’s San Jose division.
No one was hurt in the emergency landing, the CHP said. The incident did close down lanes on the highway.
Authorities did not know immediately why the plane had to land before it could reach an airport.
At about 7:50 a.m., the two far left lanes of the highway were open. The CHP said it still was working to clear the others.
This is a developing report. Please check back for updates.
