New Delhi: In a move to provide affordable healthcare to its employees and the surrounding community, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) inaugurated the country’s 216th AMRIT (Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment) Pharmacy at its Health Centre in Indira Vihar Colony, Bilaspur, a PIB press release stated.
This marks the opening of SECL’s fourth AMRIT pharmacy, making it the first coal company to operate four such facilities.
Launched in 2015, the AMRIT pharmacies, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, offer a broad selection of generic and life-saving branded drugs, implants, and surgical supplies at heavily discounted prices. The SECL pharmacy will benefit both inpatients and outpatients, including SECL employees, the general public, and residents of tribal and rural areas within the coal belt.
With the inauguration of our fourth AMRIT pharmacy, we are proud to enhance healthcare access not only for our employees but also for the larger community, particularly in tribal and rural areas of the coal belt,” said Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra, CMD of SECL.
The pharmacy was built by utilizing vacant space beside the existing health center, exemplifying best practices under Special Campaign 4.0. This new facility joins three other SECL AMRIT pharmacies located in Central Hospitals in Gevra, Korba district, Chhattisgarh; Sohagpur, Shahdol district, Madhya Pradesh; and Chirimiri, Manendragarh-Chirimiri-
