Start time, odds, predictions, and how to watch

Former heavyweight champ Andy Ruiz Jr. is returning from a long hiatus to take on Jarrell Miller in Los Angeles tonight.

Both fighters have something to prove in tonight’s match. Ruiz has been out of the fight for nearly two years and is looking to prove himself worthy of still contending for a heavyweight title. Miller, meanwhile, is seeing his first action since suffering his first career loss, a TKO at the hands of Daniel Dubois.

Of course, many of Miller’s victories came before he tested positive for a banned substance in 2019. That positive test actually propelled Ruiz to his heavyweight title win over Anthony Joshua, as Ruiz took Miller’s place in that fight. Ruiz though, has only fought twice in the last four years. His underwhelming wins over Chris Arreola and Luis Ortiz in that time do not inspire much confidence that he can handle someone of Miller’s talent.

That said, Ruiz is a massive favorite to take Miller down. Here’s everything to know about tonight’s match.

Boxing News: Canelo Alvarez will reportedly lose 168-pound IBF title ahead of Berlanga fight

Predictions for Ruiz vs. Miller:

Tony Bellew, DAZN: Ruiz to win

Bellew, a former pro boxer, tells DAZN “If Ruiz is 100% and at his best then I think he wins this easy. His hand speed will be a huge factor in this fight, and I don’t think Miller can keep up.”

Jaideep Unnithan, Essentially Sports: Ruiz should emerge victorious

Unnithan writes, “One strategy for the [Ruiz] to gain an advantage over his opponent is to either knock him out early or score multiple knockdowns to sway the judges. Conversely, Miller could become more active as the fight progresses. Hence, if Ruiz Jr. doesn’t take his chances, then the ‘Big Baby’ stands a good chance of turning the tables.”
