IAS officer Divya Mittal: From IIT and IIM to IAS
Divya Mittal is one of the most renowned civil servants in the country. Hailing from Haryana’s Rewari district, she was born in India’s capital – Delhi. Divya completed her B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in 2005. She then went to Indian Institute of Management (IIM) for her MBA degree.
After completing her studies, Divya worked in London for a year with reputed JP Morgan. She was earning good in London, though she could have enjoyed that comfortable life, but she chose to return to India and began preparing for the UPSC exam.
Became IAS on Her Second Attempt
Divya Mittal appeared for the civil service exam for the first time in 2012 and cracked it, becoming an IPS officer in the Gujarat cadre. However, she was not satisfied as her ultimate goal was IAS. She again cracked the UPSC exam in 2013 and held positions such as District Magistrate (DM) in Mirzapur, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, and several other districts.
She also served as Vice Chairperson of Bareilly Development Authority, CDO of UPSIDA Gonda, Joint Managing Director of Mawana Meerut, and Assistant Secretary in NITI Aayog.
Currently Serving As
Divya Mittal is currently serving as the CEO of the Uttar Pradesh Rural Roads Development Agency (UPRRDA).
A Remarkable Legacy
A turning point in her professional journey unfolded in Mirzapur. A strong wave of emotions swept through the Lahuriadah village when she was relocated. Having installed pipelines that brought water to the village for the first time since liberation, her departure was deeply felt. Previously, the villagers had to cover notably long distances just to fetch water.
Such initiative has made IAS officer Divya Mittal a role model for aspirants.
