Target has released a brand new activewear range dubbed “Active Studio Soft” and I daresay the quality is up there with some of the more designer threads you see hitting the gym or the Pilates studio.
It’s actually designed for low to medium-impact workouts like yoga and Pilates but I wore some pieces to a barre class and even The Yard gym to really put it through its paces.
Every piece has been crafted using a buttery-soft fabric with four-way stretch meaning that each piece should move with you — and it won’t work against you.

Minimal seams ensure it stays put during your workout and moisture-wicking properties keep you cool and dry.
The new range also makes a fashionable style statement with a choice of matching leggings, shorts, flares and active tops in spring neutral colours including Oatmilk, Espresso, and Hickory.
I was immediately drawn to the Oatmilk shade and decided to test out the $25 Active Studio Soft Ribbed Tank Top with Shelf Bra paired with the matching $20 Active Studio Soft Bike Shorts.
The primary concern about choosing such a light colour is that you’re likely to see your underwear through it but I didn’t have this problem at all — the fabric was thick enough to shield everything I needed it to.
I wore this pair to a pretty heavy-duty barre class that involved getting down on the floor, performing some jump squats and lunges, as well as pliéing at the bar itself.
I barely noticed the outfit as I was working out but it did manage to glean a few compliments from other attendees.
For the gym I opted for an all-black look with the $20 Active Studio Soft Ruched Plunge Crop Top paired alongside the $30 Active Studio Soft Flare Pants.
It was a rigorous session involving box jumps, burpees, a short run and even a row but the crop top didn’t budge and the waistband on the trousers stayed put.
I’ve worn a lot of different activewear brands and I can honestly say I was genuinely impressed by the quality.
Both of these pieces are set to become key players in my wardrobe.
Shoppers can actually find the collection on Target’s online store with the full range being rolled out in stores on Friday September 13.
“With activewear hugely popular here in Australia and knowing how much our loyal Target customers value the quality, style and prices Target is famous for, we expect Target Active Studio Soft will be the trending must-have of the season,” said the General Manager of Merchandise at Target Australia Carrie Kirkman.
“Target Active Studio Soft includes must-have everyday essential pieces designed to feel like a second skin.
“With the right amount of support and stretch for low to medium impact workouts but also comfortable enough for being out and about, it ticks all the boxes for all-day comfort and wear.
“It can also be paired with an existing Target spring summer wardrobe for an elevated studio to street look. It really is that versatile.”
