Tata Motors recently launched the much anticipated Tata Nexon facelift to the Indian market. The 2023 Nexon gets a new design, additional features, new variants and updated gearbox options. In this article let’s compare the new Tata Nexon with the Tata Punch. The Nexon comes under the sub-compact SUV segment whereas the Punch comes under the micro SUV segment.

The new Nexon is offered in Smart, Smart+, Smart+ S, Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative+, Creative+ S, Fearless, Fearless S and Fearless+ S. The ‘+’ option gets additional features whereas the S denotes the addition of the sunroof in each variant. The price starts from Rs 8.1 lakh and goes up to 15.5 lakh (both prices Ex-showroom).
Talking about the Punch, the micro SUV is offered in Pure, Creative, Adventure and Accomplished variants. The price for the Punch starts from Rs 6 lakh and goes up to 10.1 lakh (both prices Ex-showroom).

In terms of dimensions, the new Nexon measures 3995 mm in length, 1804 mm in width, 1620 in height and has 2498 mm of wheelbase. The Punch is 3827 mm in length, 1742 mm in width, 1615 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2445 mm.

Talking about the features, the Tata Nexon facelift 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, connected car tech, 360-degree camera, a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, an air purifier, single pane sunroof, cruise control, automatic headlamps with wipers, touch-based panel for HVAC controls and more.

Talking about the features in Tata Punch, the micro SUV gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a rear-view camera, cruise control, 7.0-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic projector headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers and more.

Now let’s talk about the powertrain and gearbox. The Nexon is offered in two engine options – a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine which puts out 115 hp of power and 260 Nm of torque and comes paired either with a 6-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Another engine is the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine which puts out 120 hp of power and 170 Nm of torque. The petrol engine gets four gearbox options – a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, AMT and a dual-clutch DCA automatic.

The Punch gets a single engine option – a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, NA Petrol engine which puts out 86hp and 113Nm of torque. It comes paired either with a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic gearbox. The Punch also gets a CNG option and it gets only a 5-speed manual.
