(NewsNation) — The media has been swarming with news of a feud between Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish as Swift dropped another installment of “The Tortured Poets Department” on May 17 — the same day Eilish dropped her album, “Hit Me Hard And Soft.”
Outlets like the Daily Mail have claimed there is a “vicious” feud and that superstar Swift, who has sold out her three-hour concerts internationally, is “unfazed by apparent repeated attempts by (Eilish) to tear her down” as Swift is “too busy selling out stadiums worldwide to engage with her ‘jealousy.’”
To be fair, Eilish has made some comments that could be construed as veiled swipes, including telling the music app Station head: “Nobody wants that. You guys don’t want that. I don’t want that. I don’t even want that as a fan… My favorite artist in the world, I’m not trying to hear them for three hours.”
But, a music industry insider who knows both camps laughed when asked about the supposed feud, saying, “Yeah, that’s all media … just press stuff. Billie likes Taylor’s music — even her songs are sounding more like Taylor’s.”
Swift is currently in Europe for her Eras tour, and her album is still No. 1 on the Billboard album charts after seven weeks, while Eilish’s album is down to No. 3 (from second position last week) after three weeks on the charts.
