Teenager hospitalised with serious injuries following hit and run in Leichhardt, Sydney

A teenager has been seriously injured in and hit and run while riding his bike in Sydney’s inner west.

Police and paramedics were called to the intersection of Reuss St and Excelsior St, Leichhardt, about 8.30pm on Friday following reports of a crash.

When police arrived they discovered a 13-year-old boy had been riding a bike when he was hit by a car.

The driver did not stop, and is believed to have continued travelling along Reuss St.

The teenager suffered serious injuries and was treated by paramedics before being taken to the Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick in a stable condition.

“A crime scene was established and examined by specialist officers attached to the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit,” police said.

“An investigation is now underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash.”

Police are seeking to identify the driver and the vehicle involved, the latter described as a white Audi hatchback.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information has been urged to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.
