Temporary colour hair spray recalled nationally over risk of allergic reaction

A temporary hair spray which comes in vibrant colours such as blue, gold and pink has been recalled due to a risk of allergic reaction as a result of incorrect labelling.

A number of Oceana International’s hair sprays sold between August 2022 and September 2023 don’t comply with mandatory standards for cosmetic ingredient labelling, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said.

“The products were sold without the ingredient information that is required for cosmetic products,” the recall statement said.

“There is a risk of allergic reaction if consumers are exposed to ingredients they are sensitive or allergic to.

“Consumers will not be able to check the ingredients list to identify the possible cause and seek appropriate treatment.”

The ACCC said products affected had the batch number W010530.

Customers are being recommended to stop using the product and return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
