It’s unclear exactly when the altercation occurred, except that it was during the game.
Footage shows around a dozen people within the vicinity of the argument standing up, but only two appear to be at odds with each other.
Profanities were hurled as some surrounding supporters diffused the situation.
The distasteful incident came on what was already a dirty night for Port fans, who are still reeling after their 84-point loss to the Cats.
The Power had been one of the form teams of the competition since their infamous 79-point loss to Brisbane in Round 15.
Coach Ken Hinkley was booed off Adelaide Oval by his own fans after that game, but had led a resurgence since then, steering his side to eight wins from their next nine games, including wins over finalists Sydney, Western Bulldogs and Carlton.
But calls for Hinkley’s sacking — which ran rife in the South Australian capital after the Lions defeat — have resurfaced after Thursday night’s capitulation, which was their fourth successive finals loss.
Club signs on Port Road at the club’s Alberton headquarters have been covered with ‘HINKLEY OUT’ and ‘SACK HINKLEY’ prints for the second time this season.
The Power faithful left Adelaide Oval in droves well before the siren put those remaining in the ground out of their misery.
7NEWS Adelaide spoke to a number of disgruntled fans leaving the ground at three-quarter time and during the last quarter.
In one of the fan interviews with 7NEWS, even Port Adelaide premiership ruck Dean Brogan can be seen throwing the towel in for the night, apparently having seen enough of the carnage.
The Power will now play the winner of Friday night’s clash between Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs in a cut-throat semi-final.
