Thank You, Chappell Roan, For Deciding My Next Manicure Color For Me—See the Photos

We’ve officially hit that point in the season where summer nail colors don’t feel right but fall manicure shades still feel too dark. Must be August! I’m due for a fresh dip soon, and thanks to Chappell Roan, I know exactly what color I’ll choose at my next appointment.

The pop star, who is having what can only be described as an absolutely mind-blowing year, performed at the Outside Lands festival in San Francisco wearing a bright, cheerful cobalt blue manicure with her “Hot to Go” majorette outfit and long, bright red curls. The musician’s nails were a medium length almond shape, painted with a vibrant blue that could be compared to Yves Klein’s signature shade. It’s the perfect color for a stage performance, as it’s easily visible from the crowd and vibes well with both her cherry red lipstick and purple eye shadow. It also feels fresh and unexpected; red would have been an obvious color choice, but blue really pops.

Roan paired the blue mani with purple eye shadow brushed all the way up to the top of her brows and accented with a glittery cut crease and long, fluffy false lashes. Pink blush with a warm coral tone was swept right along her cheekbone and her auburn curls were pulled back with a blue scrunchie to match the bodysuit and manicure.

If you’re loving Roan’s nail color choice—especially for this transitional period between summer sun and fall weather—there are lots of fabulous cobalt shades to choose from. Try Olive and June’s Can’t Lose for a sporty bright blue; Essie’s true cobalt Butler Please; or Manucurist’s aptly named Ultramarine for a similar look. Then you and your nails will be hot to go for the rest of the summe and well into autumn!
