The Americana at Brand strengthens luxury offering for 15th anniversary

Last year, the city of Glendale was ranked as the fourth most expensive city for rent in the nation by Rent.com. This high cost of living partly explains the new interest for the luxury market in moving closer to Glendale and its 200,000 inhabitants.

In the heart of Glendale, The Americana at Brand, the second mall opened by Eric Caruso after The Grove, celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. Known for its historic Nordstrom and Barnes and Noble stores, the mall, which opened in 2008 with Lacoste, H&M, Anthropologie, Armani Exchange, Puma and Urban Outfitters, has gradually revised its offering, retaining certain classics and strengthening its portfolio of luxury brands.

While some of the big names have remained, led by H&M, Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie, the offer was initially fleshed out around mainstream brands such as Nike, Apple and Aritzia, followed by Tory Burch. An Amazon Style store opened for a few months but quickly closed its doors and luxury offer has grown considerably.

After the opening of Golden Goose in 2022, the first Chanel fragrance and beauty boutique opened last year, followed by Saint Laurent and Gucci boutiques in February 2023, Byredo in September and expansions of the Tiffany & Co and David Yurman stores.

Alongside its portfolio of luxury brands, The Americana at Brand also confirms its presence in wellness and sportswear brands, with the recent opening of Alo Yoga, and the planned openings of Converse and ASVR in the coming weeks.

“In its 15 years, The Americana at Brand has become an indelible part of the city of Glendale and we’re appreciative that the community has embraced us as their local gathering place,” said Corinne Verdery, CEO of Caruso. “We’re proud to stand as a pillar of the city’s growth and look forward to continuing our tradition of bringing the newest and most exciting brands and experiences to the community.”

In the 15-year anniversary press release, The Americana at Brand also highlighted its positive economic and cultural impact. “The Americana at Brand has revitalized downtown Glendale with an unparalleled mix of retail and restaurants. The property exceeded the city’s goals in the years following its opening, replacing dilapidated properties and unleashing a wave of upscale housing, retail, office and hotel development in Glendale,” it said.

In addition to the strength of its retail and dining business, The Americana at Brand also has a residential offering in Glendale. 242 luxury apartments and penthouses with swimming pool, concierge, yoga classes and a first price for a one-bedroom starting from $3,500 a month. All the more reason for Glendale’s status as one of the America’s most expensive city for renters to continue to rise.
