Scottish band the LaFontaines have announced they will “call it a day” after 17 years with a final show in Glasgow next year.
The North Lanarkshire trio, who featured in the official anthem for the Scottish national team for EURO 2020 Scotland, Bonnie Scotland, are to split next year.
The rock band – who have hits such as Alpha and Under the Storm – announced the news on Sunday evening saying the decision was “less than easy”.
They previously performed at TRNSMT and T in the Park after forming in 2008.
In a statement on social media, they said: “After 17 incredible years as a band, four albums deep, and countless unforgettable shows, we’ve made the very difficult decision to call it a day.
“It’s been less than easy—this band has been everything to us.
“It let us create something unique and took us far beyond the bounds of North Lanarkshire, but mostly it brought us more happiness than should be allowed in a lifetime.
“The most important people to thank are you. The folk who showed up to the shows, who listened to the albums, bought the merch, and joined us along the way.
“You don’t last this long as a band without that (genuinely started bubbling writing that bit there).
“It wouldn’t be like us to leave before last orders, so let’s have one last shindig.
“The final gigs are in London and Glasgow. Tickets are on sale Friday, December 6. Going to miss you, Fonts.”
