Cadillac has unveiled a new electric SUV that it says will be an “entry point” to the company’s EV lineup when it launches in 2025.

Called the Cadillac Optiq, the new electric vehicle will sit below the Lyriq, which launched last year and starts at around $57,000 before any eligible tax breaks have been applied. As such, the new compact SUV will be Cadillac’s idea for an entry-level EV.

Cadillac hasn’t shared many details about the new car, which it says will be ready for the 2025 model year. So far, all it has offered is a glimpse at the new car thanks to the pictures of the Optiq that you see here, which show off a very inoffensive looking electric SUV.

At the front, the design has been subdued a little from the futuristic face that we got on the Lyriq. As such, there’s still that flattened off grille area, but it’s now flanked with lights that look straight off the XT4. Behind the front wheel there’s a charging port, which will probably house a Tesla-backed NACS plug after GM joined the growing list of automakers adopting that charging standard over the CCS port that the rest of the world uses.

Further back, there are some neat design details around the back of the car, including a slotted pattern around the windows. Then, on the rear end, there are some neat vertical tail lights running up the rear quarters.

Unfortunately that’s all we’ve got to go on for the Optiq so far. There are no details on powertrain options, motor sizes, ranges or even a price for the new budget model. For that kind of information, Cadillac says we’ll have to keep an ear to the ground as the 2025 launch date nears.
