What to do when your mobile network is down

If you are experiencing problems with your mobile signal, you might be entitled to compensation.

Internet providers typically pay out £8 per day when broadband and phone service is not repaired after two whole days of no service.

Also, you may have the right to leave a provider without a fee if you have been without service for a long time.

You can complain to your provider by phone, online via their website – or app if they have one –  or instore.

So far, more than 12,000 issues have been logged on Down Detector.

Of those who reported issues, 36 per cent said it was with their mobile internet, while 34 per cent said they had no signal.

The remaining 30 per cent said they were experiencing a total blackout.

Down Detector gets network status updates from various sources including social media and reports submitted to its website.

The website’s ‘heat map’ of user-submitted problem reports shows that affected customers are mostly in London, Birmingham and Manchester, although there are reports across the country.

This outage is the latest in a string of issues with Three UK in recent weeks – and it seems that many frustrated users are sick of it.

Taking to X, one wrote: ‘Past few days!!! It’s been couple weeks now problems have persisted.

‘Trying to get through to customer services is a joke.

‘I have 5 separate contracts with three and it’s a waste of money atm.’

Another added: ‘This is an absolute joke!

‘you’ll be so quick to increase our prices every year even though we aren’t getting the service we are paying for!!’

And one vented: ‘This is the last straw for me. Cancelling the contract and not paing any cancellation fee whatsoever.’
