There seems to be a dedicated day for everything, from pizza and avocados to jelly beans.
So in honor of National Relaxation Day on Aug. 15, Tommy Bahama is partnering with Ray’s, a Lower East Side nightclub, on a capsule collection.
Tommy Bahama, whose motto is: Make Life One Long Weekend has created three of its signature silk camp shirts as well as three baseball hats to celebrate the day. In addition, the two will cohost two kickoff events and 10 happy hours at Ray’s Lower East Side club featuring Tommy Bahama spirits in cocktails created especially for the event.
Carlos Quirarte, cofounder and partner of Authentic Hospitality, which owns Ray’s, said: “Since its opening, Ray’s has always been a friendly place for our community to unwind and relax in a welcoming, social setting. Tommy Bahama shares those sentiments and creates clothing perfect for doing just that — so what better brand for us to partner with?”
Ray’s designer Jack Berry added, “In looking through the Tommy Bahama archive, what resonated most with us were patterns that nodded to casual afternoon hangouts and graphics that highlighted the art of a good cocktail. We chose three iconic silk camp shirt styles and embellished them subtly to give them a Ray’s flair.” And the hats were designed in teal and coral to reference Miami architecture, which has long been central to the Tommy Bahama brand.
The shirts, which retail for $125, will debut on Aug. 15 at a kick-off party celebrating National Relaxation Day at Ray’s Lower East Side location. The hats, which will sell for $60, will drop during happy hour at the Tommy Bahama store on Fifth Avenue on Aug. 21. The merchandise will also be available for purchase on the Ray’s website.
