As Australia welcomes spring, it’s time to get serious about sloughing away our winter cloaks and preparing for warmer weather.
And with that comes a re-introduction into dry body brushing, slathering on deliciously thick moisturisers – and sunscreen – as well as potentially popping on a bit of self tan to fake a golden glow.
Dry body brushing is truly having a renaissance of late, with everyone from Miranda Kerr to Gwyneth Paltrow touting how good it is as a method of getting rid of old skin cells and feeling renewed.

Amazon’s Belula Dry Body brush pack comes with the long brush itself – which can even reach your back – a face brush and exfoliating shower gloves.
It’s a one-stop-shop kit that can safely be stowed in your bathroom cabinets and brought out before a shower.
The trick to dry body brushing is to brush gently and upwards, towards your heart, rather than down, because that direction won’t remove flaky skin.
More than 7,000 customers have reviewed this particular brush kit, which retails for $26.36, and pointed to the softness of the bristles and how easy it is to hold the bamboo brush stick while you move around the body.
“Nice kit overall and a lovely brush that makes dry body brushing effective and enjoyable,” one shopper said.
“I could see a difference in my skin after three days of using this. Highly recommend it,” said another.
A third added: “It helps clean your body very well done! Love it!”
The company that makes the brushes, Belula, has offered a tip to those first-time brushers who find it quite scratchy to brush their skin.
If you wet the bristles with warm water they soften slightly, making it easier to brush up the arms and legs.
The brand also sells a number of boar bristle brushes for the hair, which can be found here.
