Donald Trump Attack: Melania Trump, the wife of former US President Donald Trump, issued her first statement on Sunday after attack on him at a rally. “When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realised my life, and Barron’s life, were on the brink of devastating change,” she said. Melania called his attacker, Thomas Matthew Crooks, a “monster”. Crooks was shot dead at the scene.

Donald Trump, after the deadly attack during a rally in Pennsylvania, said, “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that. I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin.”

The snipers were stationed on a roof near the podium where the ex-President was addressing the rally. Secret Service officials also swarmed onto the podium to protect Trump, who was escorted off the stage.

Meanwhile, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed that the attack on Donald Trump was an “assassination attempt”. The FBI identified Thomas Crooks, 20-year-old man from Pennsylvania as the suspected shooter at the Trump rally. He was gunned down by Secret Service snipers following the shooting.

To recall, in a similar attack on Donald Trump, Theodore Roosevelt was shot at as a former US President during his 1912 re-election campaign while Presidents Andrew Jackson, Franklin D Roosevelt, and Harry Truman were also shot at and survived the assassination attempts.

Four US Presidents, Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, William McKinley, and John F Kennedy were all shot dead.
