Two dead in horrific multi-vehicle crash on Sydney Harbour Bridge

A second man has died following a multi-vehicle crash on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, police have confirmed.

The crash involving four cars and a bus occurred about 1.40pm on Thursday, triggering an emergency response.

One man died at the scene and a second was in a critical condition before police confirmed he too had died.

They have yet to be formally identified.

Paramedics also assessed a number of other injured people.

The bus driver is uninjured and no passengers were on board at the time.

A motorbike rider was arrested after allegedly riding through the scene while emergency services were treating the injured.

“All lanes are closed in both directions while emergency services attend a multiple-vehicle crash on the deck of the bridge,” Live Traffic Sydney said.

However, one northbound lane has since re-opened.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area.

Buses will also be diverting away from the area and will be delayed.

Trains are still running across the bridge in both directions.
