Massive explosion at Jabalpur Ordnance Factory: Two dead, many feared trapped as building collapses

A massive explosion occurred on Tuesday at Jabalpur’s Ordnance Factory Khamaria, leaving two dead and nearly 15 seriously injured. The blast occurred in a refilling section of the factory located at Khamaria in the district. The explosion was so intense that the entire building collapsed. Rescue operations began immediately after the incident, as it is feared that several employees might be trapped under the debris. Factory management, along with a relief and rescue team, rushed to the scene to assist in removing the trapped workers.

A hydraulic system reportedly malfunctioned during the bomb-filling process in Building 200 of the factory’s F-6 section, triggering a massive explosion. The blast was so intense that it was heard up to five kilometres away. Nearby residents initially mistook the explosion for an earthquake, prompting many to rush out of their homes in fear.

The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital, and authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion.
