Uttarkashi: Several workers are feared to be trapped inside an under-construction tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district after a part of its structure collapsed on Saturday night. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and police teams have reached the spot and rescue operations are underway.
According to Uttarkashi SP Arpan Yaduvanshi, around 36 workers are trapped inside the tunnel and no casualty has been reported so far.
“The police force, NDRF and SDRF teams have reached the spot. Around 36 workers are trapped inside, as per record. Rescue operations are underway on war-footing. We will rescue all of them safely. No casualty reported so far,” PTI quoted SP Yaduvanshi as saying.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that he is in continuous contact with the officials. “I have been in contact with the officials from the time I got to know about the incident…NDRF and SDRF are at the spot. We pray to god for the safe return of everybody,” ANI quoted CM Dhami as saying.
