Urgent recall: Silver Cross prams found to have defect that poses serious risk to children

A number of prams are being urgently recalled and parents are warned a defect could cause serious injury to babies and young children.

Product Safety has recalled a number of Silver Cross brand prams, including the all-terrain Reef Earth, Reef Neptune and Reef Orbit models.

The recall notice states there is an issue with the locking mechanism on one side of the pram, and it may not engage properly.

“If the locking mechanism is not engaged correctly the stability of the pram’s handle will be reduced,” the recall says.

“If the locking mechanism disengages completely while in use, the pram may collapse.”

Product Safety confirmed there had been reports of the defect occurring.

The prams affected have serial numbers ranging from VK0222005686 to VK0222006285 and VK0822013671 to VK0822014170.

They have been sold nationally and online at retailers Silver Cross Brisbane, Silver Cross Sydney, Baby Bunting, Baby HQ, Baby Road, Baby Train Group Pty Ltd, Babyland Tasmania, Helen’s Baby Wear, Premium Brands and TTN Baby Warehouse.

Customers are urged to stop using the prams immediately and check the serial numbers if they own one of the impacted models.

Those concerned should contact Premium Brands by calling 1800 653 064 or emailing [email protected] to arrange a replacement.
